Police and firefighter/paramedics from Silvis, Illinois responded Wednesday morning, August 12, 2020 to a report of multiple houses on fire with a live gas line “blowing and on fire” in the area of Avenue of the Cities near 10th Street or between 7th Street and 8th Street in Silvis, Illinois. Silvis is located east of Moline, Illinois.
A MABAS Division 39 Box Alarm #46-101 to the second alarm was activated at 11:58 a.m.
A witness working in the area reported there was a lot of smoke in the area, and that he thought the fire was closer to 10th Street and that he believed firefighters were getting the fire under control by about 12:30 p.m.
Monday’s Derecho system storm with high winds cause multiple damage reports to trees and power lines in Silvis. A large tree was uprooted in the parking lot of Illini Tower in Silvis on Monday August 10, 2020.
