Illinois State Police and firefighter/paramedics from Northbrook responded about 7:15 a.m. Saturday August 8, 2020 to a report of a serious rollover crash into a ditch with entrapment on the northbound (westbound) Tri-State Spur.
Firefighter/paramedics worked with extrication tools to free a person from a crashed vehicle. The patient was extricated by about 8:05 a.m. The crash was located near Illinois Tollway Plaza 24.
The driver of a second vehicle continued northbound (westbound) and eventually stopped his vehicle a significant distance from the crash site. Just before 8:00 a.m. police received a report that the driver was fleeing on foot from his wrecked vehicle, and then trying to flag down passing motorists to ‘hitch a ride.’
The information in this article is an early report published before any summary information was confirmed or released by police or fire authorities.
