Approximately 50 Shots Fired
Close to 50 shots rang out in broad daylight on Oak Street between Rush Street and Michigan Avenue in the shooting that killed rapper FBG Duck. CBS 2’s Jermont Terry reports.
Police and firefighter/paramedics from Chicago responded about 4:26 p.m. Tuesday August 4, 2020 to a report of shots fired in the block of 0-99 East Oak Street between Rush Street and Michigan Avenue. Upon arrival police immediately discovered two gunshot victims near 70 East Oak Street in Chicago. A third victim was found a short time later. Some police officers were already nearby, and heard the shots fired. The police officers were in contact with the victims within seconds. Three Chicago Fire Department ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
The three shooting victims were shopping on Oak Street when two drivers drove their vehicles near the victims. Four offenders exited those vehicles and shot at the shoppers on the sidewalk, according to Chicago Police Department. The shooters then entered their vehicles and fled. Chicago police are investigating leads that a black Infiniti sedan was one of the vehicles were used to flee the scene.
According ABC 7 Chicago, friends and people who know the deceased man identified the victim as Chicago rapper FBG Duck. FBG Duck was 26 years-old. ‘FBG’ is the abbreviation for “Fly Boy Gang.”
FBG was shot in the chest, the groin, and neck. He was transported by Chicago Fire Department paramedics to Level 1 Trauma Center Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he died.
A woman, age 28, was shot in the hand and transported to St.Joseph Hospital where she was in described “stable condition.”
A 36-year-old male victim with gunshot wounds in the back and side was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.
According to an FBG Duck interview with journalist Vladislav Lyubovny “DJ Vlad” in 2017, FBG Duck had been shot on two separate occasions — once in the ankle and calf, and then on a second occasion he was shot in the same leg as the first time. In the interview, FBG Duck also said that he was stabbed in the abdomen by a girlfriend. In the interview, FBG Duck said he moved around like a ghost to prevent getting shot. He said he could see you, but you can’t see him.
When asked by Lyubovny (VLADTV) whether FBG Duck was concerned about his safety with gang wars occurring, the rapper said he never takes his kids out in public. He said he know the kind of lifestyle he lives and would put his children in harm’s way. He said if he takes his kids outside, they go to the suburbs. In the 2017 interview, he said he doesn’t walk the sidewalks with his kids in the City of Chicago.

He also explains how to carry yourself properly and how to move around “like a ghost” while staying in Chicago. He contemplates leaving the city, but decides against it, citing his different mentality when it comes to his safety. He also discusses being stabbed by his ex-girlfriend.
[GRAPHIC LANGUAGE] FBG Duck talks about Chicago’s epidemic of gun violence, and fatherhood (he only takes his children outside in the suburbs away from Chicago). “There’s a lot of wars going on [in Chicago],” Duck says, “Of course a motherf****r is gonna die every day. It’s a shame. It’s dumb as hell, but that’s what goes on.”
