Antioch police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:42 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2020to a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a truck towing a trailer with entrapment of the motorcyclist on Main Street (Route 83) just north of Beach Grove Road in Antioch Township.
Police and firefighter/paramedics on arrival discovered the motorcyclist, a 48-year-old male Antioch resident, was pinned under the trailer being towed by the truck. The driver of the truck trailer assisted in jacking the trailer up and off the motorcyclist prior to the arrival of firefighters and paramedics.
The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the truck was not injured.
Initial investigation shows that the motorcyclist was traveling south on Main Street when the truck and trailer, driven by a 69-year-old Antioch resident, turned into the motorcyclist’s lane of traffic. The motorcyclist became entrapped under the trailer in the crash.
The Speed Limit is 40 MPH on Main Street according to Google Maps Street View.
The Antioch Police remind motorists to be mindful of motorcycles on the roadway, especially in congested traffic areas where views are obstructed.
