Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies and firefighter/paramedics from Lake Zurich responded to a house fire about 12:13 a.m. Tuesday August 11, 2020 after a Lake County Sheriff’s deputy responded to an activated burglar alarm at the house in the block of 20400 North Joshua Court in Deer Park in unincorporated Lake County.
The Lake County Sheriff’s deputy immediately notified the dispatcher, who immediately notified Lake Zurich firefighters. The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire call.
The first Lake Zurich fire engine crew was on the scene within five minutes. Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines and were able to bring the fire under control within minutes. The fire was contained to the basement area, but the residence sustained fire, smoke, and water damage.
Damage to the home is estimated at approximately $200,000. According to the Lake Zurich Fire Department over $500,000 in property and contents were saved. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Lake Zurich Fire Department in a statement reminded residents to install working smoke detectors and to make an escape plan and “practice” it. Fire-related safety information is available on the fire department’s official Facebook page or by calling the Fire Prevention Bureau at 847-540-5073.
Lake Zurich firefighters were assisted with mutual aid help from firefighters from Barrington, Barrington-Countryside, Buffalo Grove, Crystal Lake, Elk Grove Township, Lake Forest, Long Grove, Mundelein and Wauconda.
