Police and firefighter/paramedics from Buffalo Grove responded about 1:40 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2020 to a report of a fire on a “third floor patio” in the block of 1500 Johnson Drive.
Firefighters arrived to find a deck fire on the third floor, and upgraded the call to a working fire response by 1:47 p.m. First firefighters worked on evacuation of the apartment building.
The fire was declared ‘out’ by 1:56 p.m.
Initially no injuries were reported.
Fire command reported extension of the third floor balcony fire about eight feet into two rooms in a second floor apartment.
Firefighter/paramedics and/or chiefs from Arlington Heights, Barrington, Deerfield, Hoffman Estates, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Northbrook, Prospect Heights and Wheeling were dispatched to assist Buffalo Grove firefighters.
Firefighter/paramedics from Barrington-Countryside, Nunda Township, Park Ridge, Rolling Meadows, and Wauconda stood by in Buffalo Grove fire stations or took calls in Buffalo Grove.
