Chicago police responded about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday July 1, 2020 to a shoot out and a crash on Sheridan Road near Sherwin Avenue. Next, police were involved in a foot chase through side streets and through Willye B. White Park with an armed subject from Sheridan Road to an apartment building in the block of 7600 North Ashland Avenue (near Jonquil Terrace). The suspect described as a male/black with a white tank, white pants and orange boxers, possibly bailed out of his vehicle near Howard Street and Marshfield Avenue in the Rogers Park neighborhood.
Initially, the subjects involved in the shootout were unknown.
SWAT was assigned to the case at about 10:00 p.m. after the armed subject in the foot chase ran into an apartment building on Ashland Avenue near Jonquil Terrace.
One subject was taken into custody about 12:25 a.m.
As of 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Sheridan Road remained closed between Sherwin Avenue and Fargo Avenue, investigating wrecked vehicles and shell casings. Also the Ashland Avenue scene at about 12:25 a.m. was changing over from an active scene to an investigation scene.
