Arlington Heights Police Department responded about 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday July 1, 2020 to a report of a woman screaming in a small wooded area in the block of 1600 West Central Road. Upon arrival, police officers located a female victim being attacked by a male offender. The male fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended after a short foot pursuit in the block of 800 South Dwyer Avenue — just north of Central Road.
The Arlington Heights Fire Department responded to the scene to treat the thirty nine-year-old female victim. She was subsequently transported to Northwest Community Hospital where she was diagnosed with multiple facial fractures. The victim’s injuries are not reported to be life threatening, but she remains hospitalized due to the severity of her injuries.
The ensuing investigation revealed the male and the female befriended each other earlier that same night and spent the evening socializing. After several hours, the female wanted to return to her residence in Arlington Heights. The male suggested he walk the female back home and accompanied her even after being told it was unnecessary. He grabbed the female from behind and dragged her into a small wooded area. The offender struck the victim several times in the face with a closed fist, and when she attempted to escape, he dragged her further into the woods. The offender then removed some of the female’s clothing and used an article of that clothing in attempts to gag her. The male offender was in the process of sexually assaulting the female victim when he was interrupted by police arrival on the scene.
The offender was on mandatory supervised release from the Illinois Department of Corrections at the time of occurrence. The offender is appearing at a bond hearing on today on Thursday July 2, 2020.
The offender was identified as Chadane C. Gordon, age 25. His last known address was reported to be in the block of 600 West Central Road in Arlington Heights
Chadane C. Gordon has been charged with Aggravated Kidnapping, Attempted Aggravated Sexual Assault, Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, and Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm.
