An IDOT HELP truck crew discovered a crashed motorcycle with a motorcyclist down on the pavement at the eastbound entrance to the Lake Forest Oasis about about 1:08 p.m. Wednesday July 29, 2020. Illinois State Police and firefighter/paramedics from Libertyville and Lake Forest responded just after 1:08 p.m. Wednesday July 29, 2020 to the report of the motorcycle crash. On arrival rescuers discovered the motorcyclist unresponsive after crashing into the rear-end of a semi-trailer truck at the ramp from I-94 East (southbound) to the Lake Forest Oasis.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Illinois State Police, the motorcyclist, a 78-year-old man from Milford, Utah, was traveling I-94 East (southbound) and for unknown reason(s) veered onto the right shoulder and struck the parked semi-trailer truck operated by Michael Croft, age 51, of Hartford, Wisconsin.
The affected ramp was closed for an Illinois State Police fatal crash investigation.
