Police and firefighter/paramedics from Chicago responded about 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020 to a report that an infant was shot in a drive-by shooting on Albany Avenue just south of Fillmore Street. A police officer on the scene at Roosevelt Road and Kedzie Avenue, where the victim’s family sought help, reported that a baby was shot.
Police discovered that a 7-month-old infant suffered a gunshot wound to the foot or ankle. The victim’s family stopped their vehicle at the southwest corner of Roosevelt Road and Kedzie Avenue, where police administered first aid and called for paramedics. Police may have transported the infant on their own to Cook County Stroger Hospital.
Offenders were reported to have shot from inside a black Jeep, and then fled northbound on Albany Avenue from Fillmore Street. The vehicle description was not initially confirmed.
