Dr. Li-Meng Yan: “This is about whether all the human in the world can survive.”
Hong Kong researcher claiming China ‘covered up’ coronavirus data speaks out, while concerned for her safety connected to retaliation for whistleblowing.
Dr. Li-Meng Yan escaped Hong Kong on April 28, 2020 on a Cathay Pacific flight to the United States. Dr. Li-Meng Yan specializes in virology and immunology at the Hong Kong School of Public Health.
“The only thing is when people understand the truth, they know how to protect themselves. You have to imagine how many cases not reported from China. Already, if there is 6 billion people in the world, one in 600 get confirmed. But this will increase in a very quick speed. Imagine one day you’ll see one in 100 people already get infected in the world. And then later one in 50, one in 10. That means none of us can escape from this. Don’t expect the herd immunity especially this time because you don’t know this virus. You cannot judge the character of this virus according to our previous experience. And we don’t expect a vaccine at this moment, or some magic solution at this moment. The only thing we can do is to understand where it comes from. Do the right research and protect us, protect our family, our friend, anyone around us in the right way. That is the only thing we can do now. That is why I need to tell it to the world.”

Dr. Li-Meng Yan told Fox News that she believes the Chinese government knew about the novel coronavirus well before it claimed it did. She says her expert supervisors ignored research she was doing at the onset of the pandemic that revealed information she believes could have saved lives.
After Dr. Li-Meng Yan learned from a scientist at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in China that there was human-to-human transmission of Coronavirus, on January 9, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) put out a statement stating, “According to Chinese authorities, the virus in question can cause severe illness in some patients and does not transmit readily between people… There is limited information to determine the overall risk of this reported cluster.”
