Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched about 9:30 p.m. July 26, 2020 to a report of a domestic battery in progress at a home in the block of 22500 West Lake Cook Road, Deer Park — just north of the Deer Grove Forest Preserve.
Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrived and met with a 39 year-old male victim, who resides at the same address as the alleged offender of the domestic battery. The victim suffered a serious wound to his head. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he is expected to recover.
Preliminary investigation shows the victim’s girlfriend, Bophanary Om, 39, who resides at the same residence, became upset that the victim urinated in the bed. She responded by retrieving a machete and striking the victim on the head with the machete.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
— Lake County Sheriff’s Office
After reviewing the facts of the incident, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges:
Aggravated Domestic Battery (Class 2 Felony)
Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon (Class 3 Felony)
Two Counts of Domestic Battery (Class A Misdemeanors)
Bophanary Om remains held in the Lake County Jail on $30,000 bail. She is next due in court on August 25, 2020, at 9:00AM in courtroom T110.
