Florida and five other states set new daily records for new cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday June 26, 2020. The Florida Department of Health reported 8,942 confirmed cases, surpassing its previous record of over 5,500 cases, and setting two consecutive 5,000-plus cases this week. Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Idaho and Utah all recorded new single-day COVID-19 case highs.
The number of tests performed in Florida was also at a high for Friday.
Illinois reported 857 new confirmed cases on Friday June 26, 2020. The highest number of confirmed cases in a single day was 4014 on May 12, 2020.
The State of Illinois has reported an uptick in single day cases since June 15, 2020 when there were 473 cases — the lowest number of cases in a single day since March 30, 2020 when there were 460 cases.
