Stars across Hollywood and beyond are mourning the death of actor Carl Reiner, who passed away on Monday at 98 years old. Carl’s son Rob Reiner confirmed the news in a tweet, writing, “Last night my dad passed away. As I write this my heart is hurting. He was my guiding light.” The late star was known for creating and starring in the “Dick Van Dyke Show” and for his role in the box office hit “Ocean’s 11.”
Carl Reiner died Monday night June 29, 2020 at age 98 at his Beverly Hills home. Reiner was a producer, director and actor. He was also a Grammy winner. He won 9 Emmys in over 7 decades. He has more than 400 credits.
Carl Reiner is perhaps best for his creation of “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” in which he also starred as an actor who played the role of a temperamental comedian “Alan Brady” who antagonized Dick Van Dyke’s character head writer Rob Petrie and the other writers of the fictitious Alan Brady Show. Oh, and there was this new actress Carl cast for Dick’s wife — Mary Tyler Moore (Laura Petrie).
Carl Reiner directed “Oh God” with George Burns and “The Jerk” with Steve Martin, “Summer School” with Mark Harmon, ”Summer Rental” with John Candy, and “That Old Feeling” with Bette Midler and “Sibling Rivalry” with Kirstie Alley and Carrie Fisher.
Reiner also worked with Steve Martin on several movies, including “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid,” “Man with Two Brains” and “All of Me.”
