Fox Lake police responded Saturday May 9, 2020 to the block of 600 Knollwood Road in Fox Lake to a woman’s house after co-workers went to her house and discovered her body with traumatic injuries. Police officers upon arrival found the woman’s body on her back porch, found signs of a struggle in the home, and found the woman’s three dogs with blood on the dogs.
The woman was identified as Lisa Urso, age 52, a resident of the address on Knollwood Road in Fox Lake, located on a channel on the west side of Duck Lake, which is in Ingleside — an unincorporated community. Lisa Urso’s Facebook page described that she was self-employed and lived in Ingleside.
Fox Lake Police Chief Jimmy Lee said it was initially understood that Urso had been planning on seeing co-workers on Saturday, but co-workers went to check on her when she did not show up at work.
The specific breed of each dog was not initially identified, but the dogs were described as medium-size. The dogs were taken into the custody of Lake County Animal Care and Control. One of Urso’s dogs had been impounded by Lake County Animal Care and Control in April 2020 after the dog had bitten Urso’s boyfriend, causing a significant injury; but the dog was returned to Lisa Urso at her request.
Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper, who arrived at the scene Saturday, said an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday May 12, 2020. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of death.
