Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about noon Sunday May 3, 2020 to a report of a crash with entrapment with a vehicle crashed into Denny’s, 17 West Algonquin Road.
Firefighter/paramedics worked a quick extrication to free a person from his crashed vehicle, which was suspended on a broken wall at the restaurant. The driver also crashed his vehicle into a large metal light pole before hitting the east wall of the Denny’s building. Somehow the base of the light pole was on the roof of Denny’s and the lamp was on the sidewalk. The light pole damaged the the roof of the Denny’s building.
The driver was transported to Northwest Community Hospital with injuries that initially did not appear to be life-threatening.
Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene, but it did not appear that the second ambulance transported any patients.
