Since receiving the initial call of Whitlow being missing, Lake County sheriff’s deputies and sheriff’s detectives searched numerous places Whitlow could have been. One individual reported to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office that Whitlow sometimes ventures into the woods.
“We take missing persons cases very seriously, especially when it involves an endangered person. I am very proud of my staff who didn’t give up and searched throughout the day. Detective John Hird did an incredible job finding the missing woman in a dense wooded area, where she could have suffered serious injury or death if she was not located.”
— Sheriff John Idleburg
A Lake County sheriff’s detective began checking several wooded locations around Whitlow’s house. As he was checking a dense wooded area approximately 500 yards from Whitlow’s house, he could hear noises. He got closer to the noises and found Whitlow lying on the ground, where she’d likely been for over a day.
Whitlow was confused but uninjured, and transported to a local hospital for evaluation, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
