Police from Algonquin and firefighter/paramedics from Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded about 6:58 p.m. Friday April 24, 2020 to a report of a crash with entrapment on Algonquin Road just east of Route 25.
Police on arrival discovered a T-bone crash with a woman trapped in one of the vehicles.
Firefighters extricated the woman from the car, and she was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Trauma Center in Libertyville by a LifeNet medical helicopter owned by Air Methods, which took over Flight for Life operations in March 2020. The landing zone was set up at the school field south of Saint Margaret Mary School and just west of Eastgate Drive.
Paramedics evaluated the female patient with life-threatening injuries at the scene. Her condition at the hospital was not released.
A second crash victim was transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital with injuries that were initially believed to be non-life-threatening.
Firefighter/paramedics from Huntley Fire Protection District and Crystal Lake Fire Department assisted Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District firefighter/paramedics.
