Edens Expressway shut down near Old Orchard Road in Skokie due to a standoff barricade situation with Illinois State Police.
Illinois State Police Troopers responded about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday April 29, 2020 to an incident at the northbound lanes of the Edens Expressway (I-94) at Old Orchard Road. Illinois State Police said a subject is barricaded inside a semi truck. A female or male in a white semi-trailer truck is reported to be in the cab armed with a handgun. Video of the scene appears to show a woman with long brown hair yelling back at police from the door of a Van Eerden truck cab. Van Eerden Trucking Co., according to their website, is a full-service food distributor and trucking company.
UPDATE: One person was taken into custody 12:45 p.m. Wednesday after the name “Dominique” was called out by police.

The white semi-trailer truck is on the northbound ramp to Old Orchard Road, just north of Niles North High School, and across the expressway from the Hampton Inn & Suites Chicago-North Shore.
Police shut down all lanes of the Edens Expressway in both directions in the area. The northbound lanes of the Edens Expressway are shut down at Dempster Street and the southbound lanes are shut down at Skokie Boulevard north of Lake Avenue. Traffic is being diverted at those two points. About 3.25 miles of the Edens Expressway are shut down.
At least 16 Illinois State Police trooper and Skokie police vehicles are behind the truck on the northbound lanes of the Edens Expressway.
