Morgan Bielfeldt, a standout athlete from St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois, has announced her plans to attend Augustana in the fall and continue her softball career as a member of Coach Kris Kistler’s Vikings.
A 5’ 7” catcher and third baseman, Bielfeldt led Coach John Scotillo’s Lions in home runs as a sophomore and junior. She was elected as a team captain for her senior season, which was cancelled due to COVID-19 fears.
As a junior in 2019, Bielfeldt was named All-East Suburban Catholic Conference and All-Northwest Area by the Daily Herald. She also earned All-Area honorable mention from the Pioneer Press. St. Viator’s MVP, she led the team in batting (.389), on-base percentage (.463), slugging (.653), runs scored (15), home runs (six) and RBI (16). From behind the plate, she cut down 13 opposition base runners.
Bielfeldt hit a team-high four homers as a sophomore in 2018 and played on the Lions’ 2017 Super-Sectional qualifier as a freshman in 2017.
Morgan is the daughter of Jennifer and Christopher Bielfeldt of Chicago, Illinois. An eight-semester member of St. Viator’s high honor roll, a National Honor Society inductee and a Designated STEM Scholar, she is considering majors in the fields of science or mathematics at Augustana.
Bielfedlt will be joining a Viking program in its 23rd season under Kistler in 2021. The veteran coach has guided Augustana to a record of 534-311-3, a pair of CCIW championships and six NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.
