Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 9:05 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2020 to a report of smoke in a hallway at the Arlington Town Square Condos building, 77 South Evergreen Avenue.

Police and firefighters on arrival reported no smoke showing. Firefighters searched all floors and the roof, and found no smoke or smoke odor.

A resident noticed a hallway filled with smoke. A fire alarm pull station was activated as firefighters were arriving. One firefighter reported the smell of burnt leaves, and there was also an odor burnt leaves at street level at the front of the building.

Firefighters connected to a hose line and also raised the main aerial of Tower 1, but no smoke was detected.

Smoke or haze was visible outside, especially while approaching from Northwest Highway, but the smoke likely came from outside the building, not from inside the building.

After conducting a complete smoke investigation throughout the building that found no fire or smoke, firefighters started clearing the scene about 9:43 p.m.

The information in this article is an early report published before any summary information was confirmed or released by police or fire authorities.
