Unstable air associated with a cold front is expected to bring scattered severe thunderstorms Wednesday evening. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued at 4:43 p.m. for a storm on radar approaching northwest Cook County. The NWS Severe Thunderstorm Warning is active until 5:00 p.m., but it appears that the severe weather will hit most of Arlington Heights just after 5:00 p.m.
Temperatures are beginning to drop from 74°F at 2:51 p.m. to 57°F at 4:51 p.m. and forecast to hit 50°F by 11:00 p.m.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows a severe thunderstorm with a bowing radar echo approaching northwest Cook County and DuPage County at 4:47 p.m. The severest part of the storm appears to be headed toward central DuPage, and extending through through northwest County and just north of the Lake-Cook border.
There is another line of storms forming and crossing near Rockford, which will probably arrive in northwest Cook County about 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Tonight: Periods of showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 9pm, then scattered showers between 9pm and 10pm. Low around 38. West northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday: A chance of rain showers after 1pm, mixing with snow after 3pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 45. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Thursday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 32. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 48. West northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37.
Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 53.
