Police and firefighter/paramedics from Fox Lake responded about 2:19 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2020 to a report of bobcat and operator in the water at Ben Watts Marina, 116 South US 12 in Fox Lake.
UPDATE: An off-duty Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Protection District firefighter/paramedic was killed when a skid steer he was operating accidentally went over the seawall into the water. Firefighter/paramedic Mark Amore, age 46, apparently became trapped in the glass and steel cab that was encumbered by water and sludge beneath the surface of the water at the marina. The Fox Lake Police Department and Illinois OSHA are investigating the fatal incident.
A caller reported that a bobcat was upside down in the water with an operator in the bobcat. The caller was unsure how long the bobcat was under water.
The Quad response for divers was held up by about 2:28 p.m.
At least 42 new piers have been under construction at the Marina early this year.
One victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
