Police and firefighter/paramedics from Streamwood responded about 3:00 p.m. Sunday April 26, 2020 to a report of a fire in an attached garage in the block of 600 South Park Boulevard in Streamwood.
Battalion 9 arrived by 3:04 p.m. to find a fully-involved attached garage fire with apparent extension into the house. The fire call was immediately upgraded to a working fire response.
The first arriving engine company reported heavy fire coming from side of one car garage attached to a two story home. Fire companies utilized a master stream and several hand lines to extinguish the fire that originated on the exterior of the garage and extended into the attic.
The fire was under control by about 3:25 p.m.
The gas meter or line to the house remained on fire, and Nicor was called to the scene. Firefighters kept a fog on the line until Nicor shut off the gas.
There were no reported injuries and damage to the interior of the home was limited. Bartlett, Hanover Park and Hoffman Estates firefighters assisted at the scene. South Elgin and Carpentersville fire personnel covered Streamwood stations during the incident.
The cause of the fire was not initially determined, and fire investigators responded to the scene. Damage is estimated at $60,000/
