On Wednesday, April 1, 2020, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF), concluded an investigation which resulted in the apprehension of Gregory Vaughn Jr., 32, of the 1900 block of Fox Point Trail, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Vaughn Jr. had active arrest warrants out of Fort Wayne, IN, for attempt murder, robbery, theft, invasion of property, and interference with the reporting of a crime.
The arrest warrants allege on March 2, 2020, Vaughn Jr. entered a residence in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where his children reside with their mother. Vaughn Jr. stabbed the mother of his children, in front of his children. The following day, Vaughn Jr. returned to the residence and shot an acquaintance of the mother of his children numerous times. Vaughn Jr. fled from the scene and has been avoiding apprehension since.
On March 27, 2020, USMS-GLRFTF (Fort Wayne Office) contacted the Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team requesting assistance in locating Vaughn Jr., as it was possible he was residing in the Lake County area. The Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team and USMS-GLRFTF developed information Vaughn Jr. was staying at an apartment in the 3100 block of West Grandville Avenue, Waukegan. On April 1, 2020, the arrest warrant was served at the apartment and Vaughn Jr. was taken into custody without incident.
Vaughn Jr. remains held in the Lake County Jail on $1,000,000.00 bail. He is due back in court on April 7, 2020, at 9:00AM.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
