Home invaders in Arlington Heights: One captured and one dead.

Arlington Heights Police Department on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 announced the arrest of Bradley J. Finnan as the second suspect of two accomplices connected to a home invasion on Evergreen Avenue, just south of Waverly Road, Saturday, April 4, 2020.

According to the Arlington Heights Police Department, a thorough investigation was conducted in this matter to determine the facts surrounding this incident and whether criminal charges were appropriate. The investigation revealed that Larry D. Brodacz and Bradley J. Finnan pre-planned to force their way into that particular residence and rob the homeowners at gunpoint. This was a targeted crime and not, a random act of violence against the community.

SEQUENCE OF HOME INVASION
Beginning SAT APR 04 2020 1:55 PM

Brodacz was armed with a gun and knife as Finnan and Brodacz entered the house. Finnan was carrying a black bag and a 150-foot Lufkin tape measure.

Male homeowner fought with Finnan, pushing him and punching him outside. Finnan fled on foot.

Homeowner ran back inside; retrieved his handgun from a safe.

Brodacz held wife and two children at gunpoint.

Brodacz attacked homeowner with a knife, injuring the homeowner’s left forearm.

Homeowner fired his weapon and shot Brodacz in the abdomen.

The family fled the house as Brodacz fell to the floor.

Tape Measure

Bradley Finnan arrived with a black bag and a tape measure, but left without the items when he was overpowered by the homeowner.

Bradley J. Finnan fled the scene and Larry D. Brodacz was later pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner on Sunday morning April 5, 2020 ruled the death a homicide.

Finnan was arrested in or near Rockford between midnight and dawn on Sunday, April 5, 2020.

The facts of the case were presented to the office of the Cook County State’s Attorney for consideration. That office approved two counts of Home Invasion and one count of Felony Murder against Bradley Finnan. Mr. Finnan was taken to the Third District Court House for a bond hearing on April 7, 2020.
