E-mail Message Friday March 27, 2020
Hello, this is Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes.
In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic crisis, our Governor has issued a Stay-at-Home Order to help protect our community and all communities in the State of Illinois. It is critical that we all do our part to minimize the spread of the virus by taking this Order seriously.
Under the Governor’s Order, you can still leave your home to get groceries, medicine, and to get fresh air or exercise, but please maintain a 6 foot distance from others outside of your household. The Arlington Heights Park District has closed our local playgrounds and taken other measures to prevent large gatherings, but the parks do remain open. With our students home from school and spring weather approaching, we need the support of parents to ensure your children are following social distancing guidelines. In particular, we need everyone to remember the importance of not gathering in large groups whether in a park, anywhere outside, or in any place indoors. Staying 6 feet apart from others is critical to preventing the spread of the Coronavirus.
With respect to other measures, our Police Department is responding to complaints regarding residents who may be violating the Stay-at-Home Order in public areas. Officers on patrol are also on the lookout to ensure that people practice social distancing. Please call 911 to report a problem, and do your part in being an example for others.
Making sacrifices today will help us stay healthy and return to normal as soon as we are able. On behalf of the Arlington Heights’ Village Board and staff, thank you for everything you are doing to keep yourselves, your families, and our community safe. We will get through this if everyone works together for the benefit of all.
Mayor Thomas Hayes
The message is authentic, according to a source at the Village of Arlington Heights. However, as of 4:30 p.m. this specific message — as a verification — was NOT on the official Village of Arlington Heights website (vah.com), and was NOT on the official Facebook and Twitter accounts for Arlington Heights.
There was one alert indicated on the official Village of Arlington Heights, the alert indicated in the lower right corner of vah.com referred to a pop-up about Groot Collection Changes.
Oddly, the voice call CALLER ID showed origination of the call from Vietnam with the number beginning with 84, the Telephone Country Code for Vietnam.
Some people also reported that their phones indicated the CALLER ID displayed POTENTIAL SPAM.
