Police and firefighter/paramedics from Niles responded about 9:55 a.m. Friday March 13, 2020 to a report of a pedestrian hit by a car at Costco, 7311 North Melvina in Niles.
The incident occurred while hundreds of people were purchasing products in anticipation of possible supply chain difficulties with an expected spike of illnesses locally from the coronavirus pandemic.
Hundreds of people also arrived at the Costco store at 999 North Elmhurst Road in Randhurst Village in Mount Prospect.
A line to enter the store at the morning opening wrapped around the store. Once inside, customers fill shopping carts and formed line from the cash registers all the way to the meat department at the back of the store.
One of the first customers in the store was a man from Wisconsin, who traveled to Mount Prospect because the Costco store in his hometown was emptied yesterday.
