Zion police officers responded about 6:41 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2020 immediately after receiving a report of an armed robbery at the McDonald’s restaurant, 2008 Sheridan Road in Zion.
The caller reported that two male/black subjects wearing surgical-type masks entered the store, and that one subject proceeded to place an order for pickup. When the employee opened the cash drawer both subjects pulled handguns and pointed them at the employee.
One subject reached over the counter and pulled cash from the open register. The second subject walked behind the counter, pointed the gun at other employees and attempted to get them to open the cash register at the drive through window, but were unsuccessful. Both subjects fled out the north door of the business and were last seen walking northeast away from the building.
No one was injured in the armed robbery, and the offenders obtained an unknown amount of cash.
The subjects are described as:
#1 – Male/Black; tall; wearing all black clothing, possibly a black hoodie, black stocking cap, black shoes with white soles, and a blue surgical mask. Displayed a black handgun.
#2 – Male/Black, shorter than subject #1, grey stocking hat, black mask, black/white coat with black hood up, brown Timberland-style boots. Displayed a large frame semi-automatic pistol.
