More and more people are choosing to enjoy their entertainment from the comfort of their own home. TV use has never been so popular or simple, so a new TV might bring a desirable increase to your quality of life. Besides the enjoying the safety and comfort of home, here are the top reasons you might want to upgrade to a 4K TV.

What is 4K TV?

4K UHD resolution is four times full HD, providing a clearer, more vivid picture. Current HDTV offers 1,920 pixels (tiny dots that make up the picture) across the width of the screen – the more pixels, the sharper the image. With 4K technology, the number of pixels across the picture is doubled to 3,840 (approximately four thousand or “4K”), and the vertical scanning lines are double as well, from 1080p to 2160p.

High-Quality Picture

The first reason you should upgrade to a 4K TV is obvious; it has a high-quality picture. 1080p used to be the optimal way to watch TV, but now 4K offers a resolution that is 2160p. When you put 4K and 1080p side to side, you can easily tell the difference.

It’s Not as Expensive as You Think

It’s easy to think that such a high-quality television is extremely expensive; however, you can find a 40- to 50-inch 4K TV for around $200. This is in large part because there are now 8K TVs that cost thousands of dollars. However, 4K is now becoming the norm and it won’t cost you an unreasonable amount of money to make the switch.

Easy for Streaming

Streaming is becoming the number one way we consume television. For some people, it can be difficult to find ways to watch their streaming channels. Most of the 4K TVs have smart capabilities, so apps for Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and others are readily available. So, there’s no need to buy a separate device and mess with additional cables and remotes to stream, because it’s all available on your 4K TV.

4K Content Continues to Increase

When 4K was just becoming available, there wasn’t a very compelling reason to get it, because there wasn’t that much content available in that quality. Over the years, that has changed in a big way with television packages, streaming services, and even video game systems all offering content in 4K.

Watching 4K content with Xfinity TV

Customers can use their Xfinity Voice Remote to say “4K” (or search “4K”) to be taken to a 4K UHD landing page that displays all 4K programming available.

When X1 or Flex is set up, it will automatically be set to the highest video output resolution possible for your TV, including 4K UHD. To make sure your box is set to 2160 resolution, say “device settings” into your voice remote and from there select “video display.” On X1, if you choose to view On Demand content (for free, rental or purchase) that’s available in 4K, playback will automatically default to the appropriate 4K color depth based on your TV’s capabilities. Currently, Flex customers have access to 4K programming available through Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube.
