On Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Schaumburg Police Department executed three arrest warrants and a search warrant at 2225 West Weathersfield Way in Schaumburg. As a result, Schaumburg resident, 42 year-old Paul Binkowski, a resident of the same address, was arrested for two felony charges for Aggravated Stalking and Violation of an Order of Protection. Binkowski was also charged with a misdemeanor Violation of an Order of Protection. The police investigation and subsequent charges stemmed from numerous complaints reported by a former girlfriend of Binkowski. The assistance of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS) Emergency Services Team (EST) was requested in order to secure a peaceful surrender after Binkowski failed to turn himself in at the Schaumburg Police Department on numerous occasions.
The residence was checked with no other subjects inside. Binkowski was taken into custody and transported to the Schaumburg Police Department for further investigation.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office reviewed the case and authorized the following charges:
• Aggravated Stalking (Class 3 Felony)
• Violation of an Order of Protection (Class 4 Felony)
• Violation of an Order of Protection (Misdemeanor)
Binkowski was scheduled to appear today at 1:30 p.m., at the Cook County Circuit Court Third Municipal District Rolling Meadows Courthouse for a bond hearing.
Members of the public are reminded that this arrest and complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
