Schaumburg Police and the NIPAS Emergency Service Team responded about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday February 19, 2020 to serve a warrant at a residence in Schaumburg near the intersection of Weathersfield Way and Kensington Lane in southwest Schaumburg near Streamwood.
UPDATE …
The police activity had the appearance of a high-risk warrant service with Schaumburg police, a Schaumburg Fire Department ambulance, NIPAS Emergency Service Team personnel with two Bearcat armored vehicles, and other vehicles on the scene.
Initially there was no confirmation regarding whether the warrant was executed, but the scene was secured just before noon. Most crews and personnel left the scene by noon.
Weathersfield Way was closed about one block east and one block west of the residence during the police activity at the residence. Weathersfield Way was open in both directions by about 12 noon, and a gray Schaumburg forensics van remained on the scene.
Schaumburg police confirmed that law enforcement was serving a warrant, and reported that the incident was contained to the address in the block of 2200 Weathersfield Way. Police are conducting further investigation into an ongoing, isolated investigation. Police confirmed there were no injuries, and there was no gunfire.
Note: A Facebook user and group member of the Facebook Group “Schaumburg Everything” posted video (at 12:38 p.m.) of the scene apparently showing today’s police activity. Apparently the group member dubbed audio of automatic weapons fire with multiple shots heard (unrelated to today’s incident), and then uploaded the inauthentic video.
