On Monday, February 10th, 2020 at approximately 3:48 p.m., an officer on duty with the McHenry Police Department was responding to an emergency call for service when he was involved in a traffic crash on Front Street (IL Route 31) just south of the intersection at Elm Street (IL Route 120).
A preliminary investigation determined a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was traveling south on Front Street when it first stuck a 2010 Dodge Ram pickup which had pulled over to yield to the police vehicle. The Chevrolet pickup then struck the police vehicle, a 2013 Ford Interceptor sedan. The police vehicle’s emergency lights and siren had been activated prior to the time of the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet pickup and the police officer reported minor injuries and were transported to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital by the McHenry Township Fire Protection District. The driver of the Dodge pickup did not report any injuries. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.
