Kane County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a Huntley-area hospital about 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2020 to a report from the hospital that a 22-year-old male subject that was being treated for a gunshot wound.
Detectives from Kane County and Huntley discovered that the victim and another subject went to a residence on Powers Road in unincorporated Rutland Township to buy less than $200 of marijuana from a male suspect identified as Kyle Campbell.
When the parties met, Kyle Campbell allegedly took the cash, but failed to complete the transaction — keeping the marijuana and telling the buyers to leave .
Campbell and the soon-to-be gunshot victim got into a physical struggle. Kyle Campbell allegedly shot the victim twice in the lower extremities, according to a release from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
An arrest warrant was issued for Campbell, who was taken into custody with the assistance of the U.S. Marshalls Great Lakes Region Task Force at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday February 5, 2020 near the I-90 and Randall Road interchange in Elgin. Additionally, Kyle Campbell was on probation for burglary, battery and robbery associated with several cases in McHenry County, according to court records.

armed robbery involving a discharged firearm with greatly bodily harm, and
aggravated battery with a firearm.
All charges are Class X felonies punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison.
Bail amount is $500,000. Kyle Anthony Campbell’s next scheduled court date is Friday February 14, 2020 at 9:02 a.m. in Courtroom 311 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain credited the teamwork and quick action of patrol deputies and detectives to apprehend such a violent offender.
