Authorities on Saturday February 1, 2020 released the name of a woman who was killed in a rollover crash on I-94 West near Libertyville. Three male passengers in the SUV suffered minor injuries.
Illinois State Police troopers and Libertyville firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:15 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2020 to a crash involving a semi-trailer truck and an SUV that rolled over.
Kiara Hill was killed when the luxury SUV she was driving struck a tractor-trailer and then rolled over several times on the northbound lanes of westbound Interstate 94 near Libertyville.
Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said preliminary autopsy results indicate Kiara Hill, 28, of St. Paul, Minnesota, died from multiple blunt force injuries caused by the crash.
As is standard in fatal crashes, toxicology results are pending and the investigation into Hill’s death continues by the coroner’s office and Illinois State Police. Drugs or alcohol are considered a factor in the crash, according to state police.
Illinois State Police said Kiara Hill was driving a gray BMW SUV west on I-94 West when she apparently lost control and struck the tractor-trailer. Hill was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected from the SUV as it rolled several times, according to the Illinois State Police.
Hill was pronounced dead at Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
