Police and firefighter/paramedics from Northbrook responded about 7:05 a.m. Friday February 7, 2020 to a report of a house fire in the block of 3100 Doriann Drive, just west of Cambridge Drive. The incident was upgraded to a confirmed fire with a fire reported in the basement at 7:06 a.m.
Police on arrival reported heavy smoke showing. Engine 10 was first on the scene by 7:11 a.m., and the crew reported smoke showing from the front door. Engine 10’s crew led out with a line, and was immediately going offensive. Tower Ladder 12 arrived to the front of the building. Battalion Chief 11 took command of the fire by 7:15 a.m.
ComEd was on the scene by 7:43 a.m. to disconnect power. Power was also cut remotely by ComEd at an earlier time.
Firefighters switched to defensive mode at 7:44 a.m.
Mutual aid was assigned from Glenview, Mount Prospect, and Wheeling.
A Wilmette crew and a North Maine crew were assigned to a Northbrook fire station for station standby.
