Deck fire, exterior wall fire at ranch home on School Drive just north of Campbell Street in Rolling Meadows Wednesday afternoon.
Police and firefighter/paramedics from Rolling Meadows responded about 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2020 to a report of a house fire in the block of 2400 School Drive in Rolling Meadows.
Police first on the scene reported smoke showing from the back of the house facing the bike/walk path. Battalion 15 upon arrival reported light smoke showing, and upgraded the call to a ‘Code 4’ Working Fire by 2:14 p.m.
Firefighters brought a hose line to the backyard and immediately extinguished the fire. Firefighters then checked for extension into the house from the outside.
There was severe charring on the outside wall, but firefighters did not find any extension of fire inside the house. Heat was reported on the wall opposite the exterior, but there was no initial confirmation of any heat damage inside the home.
Extra fire crews were returned by about 2:23 p.m.
Firefighters from Arlington Heights, Palatine, and Hoffman Estates assisted Rolling Meadows with Auto-Aid or Mutual Aid with the elevation of the call to a Working Fire.
No injuries were reported.
