A Ukrainian International Airlines Boeing 737-800 passenger plane with 180 aboard crashed just southwest of Tehran after take-off from Imam Khomeini International Airport, Tehran, according to Iranian news agencies. According to Flight Radar 24 tracking, the aircraft appears to have crashed north of the industrial town of Parand, which is west northwest of the airport and southwest of Tehran.
Iran’s Fars News Agency initially reported that the Ukrainian plane crashed due to technical problems after taking off from the Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran.
The plane belonged to Ukrainian International Airlines, according to ISNA, another Iranian news agency. The aircraft’s destination was Kiev, Ukraine.
