Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 6:55 p.m Friday, January 24, 2020 to a report of smoke at 27 South Vail Avenue. Firefighters on arrival reported no smoke showing outside, but reported a possible light haze inside the retail unit.
A full fire response was assigned for the call, but when fire command realized there was no fire and that they were investigating smoke — possibly from a burnt out surge protector — they returned extra fire units. The scene was secured and all firefighters left the address by about 7:30 p.m.
