Zoë, a one-year old French bulldog, is the NFL’s first emotional support dog. The San Francisco 49ers are the first team in the NFL to have a registered emotional support doggie.
This little 49er offers big support to players and staff who may feel the need to unwind from the stress of the approaching post season playoffs. Zoë is working this week, helping players prepare for the NFC Divisional Playoff game at Levi Stadium on Saturday by reducing anxiety.
Zoë spends most of her time in the player engagement office where team members can visit her between practices and before and after games. The idea is that Zoë helps keep players at an optimal stress level, avoiding the excessive stress and anxiety that can impair performance.
Zoë’s has an Instagram account that features many famous 49ers, including Jimmy Garoppolo and Robbie Gould, spending time with her.
