Police and firefighter/paramedics from Skokie responded about 6:00 a.m. Tuesday January 21, 2020 to a report of a house fire in the block of 5200 Fargo Avenue in Skokie.
Large flames and smoke were visible from the house. There was a dumpster located on the driveway of the home. Homes are located in close proximity on both sides of the burning home, and firefighters were working with multiple hose lines to protect the exposures.
A MABAS Box Alarm 16F was activated about 6:08 a.m.
Firefighters from Wilmette, Evanston, Morton Grove, Niles, Lincolnwood, and Glenview responded mutual aid at the scene or by standing by in Skokie fire stations.
Niles Center Road is blocked in both directions between Sherwin Avenue and/or Touhy Avenue and Howard Street. There are also delays on the Edens Expressway as the fire and smoke is visible from the Edens Expressway. Smoke was also possibly affecting travel visibility in both directions on the Edens Expresswqy.

Winds at 4:52 a.m. were from the northwest at 3 MPH at Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling. Winds were calm at 5:52 a.m. Smoke was blowing west to east over the Edens Expressway.
