Two hurt in crash at Belmont Avenue and Thomas Street Arlington Heights Friday night.
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:24 PM Friday December 13, 2019 to a report of a crash with injuries at Belmont Avenue and Thomas Street Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that two people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash near Thomas Middle School after regular school hours.
Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that initially one of the crash victims was unconscious, but regained consciousness. A witness at the scene said that one of the crash victims in the white Audi appeared “dazed” after the crash.
Two victims were transported to Northwest Community Hospital.
Witnesses at the scene said that the driver of a dark SUV disobeyed a stop sign while northbound on Belmont Avenue at Thomas Street. The dark SUV hit a white Audi that was westbound on Thomas Street. The Audi was pushed into a split rail fence that had just been re-built by the owner.
The driver who erred at the stop sign was just leaving an Adopt-a-Family charity event, which included a showdown dodgeball game of students vs staff at Thomas Middle School.
