Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 11:11 a.m. Monday December 23 2019 to a report of a rollover crash with at least one person hurt.
The first fire crew on arrival reported a vehicle upside down on its roof with a victim lying on the ground. No extrication was required, and the driver of the rolled car was transported to Northwest Community Hospital with injuries that initially appeared to be non-life-threatening.
A second person in another vehicle reported injuries; and an ambulance was dispatched at 11:43 a.m. Ambulance 3’s crew, which transported the first patient, was already cleared at the hospital and was able to respond to the scene for a second time. A female adult was transported to Northwest Community Hospital.
Apparently the driver of the car that rolled was southbound on Arlington Heights Road and struck a vehicle that was either pulling out of a Jewel-Osco driveway or waiting at the driveway near the curb of southbound Arlington Heights Road. The crash broke the wheel off the southbound vehicle, which apparently caused it to roll and eventually flip near the northwest corner of Arlington Heights Road and Golf Road.
The crash was affecting traffic; southbound Arlington Heights Road was blocked just north of Golf Road for about 50 minutes. Southbound traffic was diverted through the shopping center.
The traffic control box was hit in the crash, but initially traffic signals were functioning normally at the intersection of Golf Road and Arlington Heights Road.
The information in this article is an early report published before any summary information was confirmed or released by police or fire authorities.
