Police and firefighter/paramedics from Mount Prospect responded about 7:59 p.m. Sunday December 22, 2019 to a report of a house fire in the block of 300 South George Street. A resident reported arriving home and finding smoke coming out the front door. The caller reported all residents and pets were out of the house before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters upgraded the response to the 2-story home to a Working Fire (Code 4) by 8:05 p.m.
Firefighters were working on overhaul and checking for extension by about 8:08 p.m.
The fire was declared out by 8:13 p.m. “Loss Stopped” was reported by 8:23 p.m.
This block was the scene of a downed tree suspended on power lines in backyards a few weeks ago during high winds. Initially no known association was connected between these two incidents.
Firefighters from Des Plaines and Prospect Heights responded with mutual aid to the scene of the house fire. Firefighters from Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows responded to provide fire station coverage for the Village of Mount Prospect.
