Lake Zurich Fire Department firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:49 p.m. Thursday December 26, 2019 to a report that a person fell through the ice in a retention pond in the block of 21000 North Inglenook Court in Deer Park. The first crews on the scene proceeded to a retention pond near the address when they learned a mother of a nearby residence was clinging to the edge of ice in the retention pond about 50 feet from the shoreline near the intersection of Inglenook Lane and Hearthside Drive.
Lake Zurich Fire Department crews deployed a rescue swimmer wearing specialized clothing for ice water rescues, and was able to rescue the mother at the edge of the ice.
Lake Zurich firefighter/paramedics assessed the rescued mother, the two sons, and the father. Two patients of the four people involved were transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in North Barrington, where they were listed in “stable condition.”
The dog was apparently OK, but initially there was no official report on the outcome for the dog.
Long Grove firefighter/paramedics provided mutual aid for Lake Zurich firefighter/paramedics.
Lake Zurich Fire Department took the opportunity associated with this incident to remind residents to always be aware of potentially thin ice, especially in milder winter weather conditions.
