CBS Chicago: “An apartment complex boasts of its “world class amenities” on its website, but it doesn’t mention the bed bugs crawling around.”
Apartment tenants at The Residences at Arlington Heights told CBS Chicago’s Tim McNicholas that it’s been up to three weeks of living in apartment units with bed bugs.
One resident moved in on October 18, 2019 and found bed bugs within days.
McNicholas reported that last week, the staff refused to answer his questions, and directed CBS to the company’s corporate office–JRK Property Holdings–based in Los Angeles.
The Residences, located at 2134 South Goebbert Road, was formerly known as Tanglewood Apartments. In 2014 an affiliate of JRK Property Holdings acquired Tanglewood Apartments, an 838-unit property from Des Moines, Iowa-based Principal Life Insurance Co for $78 million, according toe Crain’s Chicago Business.
The Los Angeles investment firm JRK Property Holdings offers attractive and modernized apartments and hotel rooms to rent and reserve throughout the United States, according to their website.
According to the website for The Residences at Arlington Heights, the complex includes an outdoor pool, a billiards game room, a fitness center, and a bowling alley. The fitness center at “The Residences” was recently upgraded with Precor fitness equipment — the same top brand fitness equipment that is being installed at the fitness center at the newly renovated Arlington Heights Park District’s Arlington Ridge Center (formerly known Olympic Indoor Swim Center).
Unfortunately residents are not happy with the attention given to individual apartment units.
CBS Chicago reported that a village health officer said that the Arlington Heights office of Health and Human Services is aware of the problems and will be following up to make sure the complex gets rid of the bugs.

An Arlington Heights complex boasts of "world class amenities" online–but it doesn't mention the bed bugs crawling around.
It's the same place that called the cops on us for asking about other pest problems.
