BREAKING COVERAGE FOX 10: Saugus High School Shooting in Santa Clarita, California.
Police and firefighter/paramedics from Santa Clarita responded about 7:40 a.m. PT Thursday November 14, 2019 to a report of a shooting at Saugus High School, 21900 Centurion Way in Santa Clarita, California.
UPDATE:
• Suspect died or was gravely wounded by self-inflicted gunshot wound
• LA County Fire transported 6 patients
• 3 patients are reported in critical condition
• 4 patients at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia
• 2 patients at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills
• 1 patient was also transported Olive View Hospital with unspecified injury.Authorities issued a “Shelter in Place” advising a suspect at large, but at least an hour later said the suspect was in custody with no update on the “Shelter in Place” advisory.
All schools nearby, including Rosedell and Highland elementary schools, have been placed in locked down, and residents in the area are being advised to shelter in place (“LOCK DOORS and STAY INSIDE”).
Local news video at the scene showed teenagers walking in a line behind armed law enforcement officials with their arms raised in the air. Several students were transferred to gurneys to ambulances at the Saugus High School parking lot.
The shooter suspect is described as a male/Asian, age 15, wearing a black hat and black clothing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Initially, the suspect was last seen running away from the school.
