Naperville police responded about 6:55 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2019, to a report of an attempted armed robbery in the area of Bauer Road and Briergate Drive. Upon arrival, Naperville police officers learned that the victim was approached while on foot, by a suspect who had exited a maroon Cadillac passenger vehicle. The suspect, armed with a handgun, demanded money from the victim. The suspect re-entered the Cadillac and left the area. A second vehicle, described as a black sedan, was also present during the attempt armed robbery and left the area with the Cadillac. The black sedan is believed to have been stolen from the area.
Initially no information was available regarding the description(s), or number of occupant(s) in the black sedan. There were no injuries reported in this incident. Naperville police declared there is no current threat to the public “as both vehicles left the area.” The crime occurred in a residential neighborhood in an area of north Naperville, about two miles from an entrance from Winfield Road to I-88 (Reagan Memorial Tollway).
The suspect that exited the red Cadillac is described as a male/black, wearing a mask and black hooded sweatshirt, armed with a handgun.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a late model Cadillac, maroon in color, with tinted windows and spoked wheels.
