Dave Bickler, Frankie Sullivan, and Jim Peterik (in order) are the first three band members to appear in the “Eye of the Tiger” music video.
Jim Peterik (keyboardist, guitarist and vocalist) is a star and enduring professional in the music world. He co-wrote “Eye of the Tiger” with guitarist Frankie Sullivan in 1982 — both from Chicagoland. In fact, Frankie Sullivan frequently shopped at the Apple Store —Woodfield for digital accessories for his music profession. The band members were founders of rock band Survivor, which performed “Eye of the Tiger” as the theme song for Rocky III and skyrocketed to fame when the song was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks. “Eye of the Tiger” was the #2 song for 1982, behind Olivia Newton John’s “Physical.”
Before Survivor and “Eye of the Tiger”, Peterik wrote “Vehicle” as a founding member of the Ides of March in 1970. “Vehicle” rose to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band got together in Berwyn, Illinois where members were growing up.

Jim Peterik performing “Eye of the Tiger” at a very special wedding ceremony.
Jim Peterik stopped by a wedding to perform “Eye of the Tiger” for a very special reason. The bride’s father passed away from cancer and “Eye of the Tiger” is the song he listened to for inspiration while undergoing treatment. His wife reached out to Jim, and told him the story while her husband, Dr. Calandras, who was fighting to survive his illness. Jim Peterik made a visit to the hospital to meet Dr. Calandras after hearing that his song was giving him inspiration. Sadly, the man lost his fight. Not too long after his death, Jim Peterik made the amazing gesture of appearing at Dr. Calandra’s daughter’s wedding to perform his hit song, Eye Of The Tiger. A local band, One Night Band, was notified a couple days before the wedding that they would be backing Jim Peterik on this song, “Eye of the Tiger.” It was a great experience! Jim Peterik is a true Rockstar with a heart of gold!
