Lake Zurich firefighters stop intense fire from destroying The Barn at Paulus Park on Rand Road.
Lake Zurich police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:30 PM Saturday November 2, 2019 to a report of a fire at the barn at Paulus Park 200 South Rand Road Lake Zurich, Il Lake Zurich, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that flames were showing from The Barn at Paulus Park across from Wendy’s.
Lake Zurich Fire/Rescue’s Battalion Chief 32 on arrival by 8:33 p.m. reported a heavily involved structure with water on the fire.

A MABAS Division 4 Box Alarm on Box #32T was activated for a structure fire by about 8:36 p.m. When the fire call was initially dispatched about 8:30 p.m. flames were showing from the front of the Paulus Park barn. A Barrington-Countryside ambulance and a Long Grove tanker responded before the box alarm.
Fire command declared fire loss stopped by about 8:50 p.m. Initially a damage estimate was not available. The front of the building showed extensive charring, but firefighters saved the 40′ x 80′ foot building from destruction.
The Lake County Indoor Winter Farmer’s Market opening day was postponed and will be relocated. Opening day had been scheduled at the Paulus Park barn November 3, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
FIRE POSTPONES WINTER MARKET OPENING
Due to a fire last night at the Paulus Park barn the opening of the winter market has been rescheduled tentatively for November 17th.
I know how much our customers looked forward to the opening day, and how hard the vendors had worked getting stuff ready….
On Monday we will work on securing a new venue and as soon as we have a new lease signed we will get you the new address.
Lake Zurich firefighters were assisted by firefighters in fire engines from Fox River Grove FPD, Wheeling Fire Department
Palatine Fire Department, and Countryside FPD.
Lake Zurich firefighters were assisted by firefighters in ladder trucks from Arlington Heights Fire Department and Buffalo Grove Fire Department.
Lake Zurich firefighters were assisted by firefighters in rescue squads from Cary FPD and and Libertyville Fire Department.
Lake Zurich firefighters were assisted by firefighter/paramedics with ambulances from Palatine Rural FPD, and Nunda Rural FPD.
Lake Zurich firefighters were assisted by fire chiefs from Barrington Fire Department, Wauconda Fire District, Long Grove FPD, and Countryside FPD.
The Salvation Army MESS Canteen also responded to the scene.
Firefighter/paramedics from Mundelein and Elk Grove Township each stood by in Lake Zurich with a fire engine, and firefighter/paramedics from Crystal Lake and Lake Forest each stood by in Lake Zurich fire stations with an ambulance.
Staging of fire equipment was located just north of the fire at Rand Rd and Paulus Park.
The administrative offices of the Lake Zurich Park and Recreation Department were seriously damaged in a fire Saturday night.
